Have you ever wondered, why and how are hurricanes (or cyclones) named?
I have!
So I went to google about it and woah!
The naming is actually approved by World Meteorological Organisation.
And there's this 6 lists of names that they will use to name the hurricans and be reused every 6 years.
Unless, the particular storm is too deadly and/or costly to be reused again..
Sensitivity uh, so cannot use the name again. I guess it's more like superstitious kind of thing? Like you name liao den later kena the damage again :/
These are called the retired hurricane names.
This goes back to the qns, why name them??
It merely for the purpose of easy reporting and referring, so next time when the news say about the hurrican, people will know where it's coming from? Okay somewhere that idea.
COOL RIGHT.
Is your name here?
Or has it retired???
Hurricane "Alicia" retired in 1983.
