La Nonna

Seems like my life is revolving around good food recently. Headed to La Nonna @ Holland Village for a lunch appointment with my ex-lecturer in SMA. He's not taught me before anyway, but still I'll go "Sir!" when I address him. Hee. In fact I "Sir!" most of the SMA lecturers.. (mariners are respectable mah ;D)

So.. La Noona serves Italian food and they have 1-for-1 promotion during lunch!!!

As usual, I did a quick googling up to see what they serve and hehehe, I had in mind what I want before going :P

Antipasti: Mozzarella e Parma
"Pan-fried Mozzarella wrapped in 18-month aged Parma Ham served with Mesclun Salad."

no picture. The website runs on flash so I can't kope any pictures to paste here..

I am not picky/choosy over the food I eat. Technically I can live on cai-fan / fish soup with exactly the same 料 on a daily basis. So what I see from their description is..

Pan-fried Ham wrap cheese + raw vege.

And guess what? It gotta be one of the best ham + cheese + raw vege I ever had. Hahaha. I have no idea what they did to the dish la but it's damn good that I didn't care about reserving space for my main dishes and dessert. I just gobbled up 2/3 share of the appetiser :P

Pizza: La Nonna Pizza
"Tomato, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Asparagus, Egg and Black Truffle."

The description says it all. Combine everything together, only.

I AM SO SORRY I RUINED THEIR SIGNATURE PIZZA WITH THIS PHOTO TAKEN BY MY BLACKBERRY TORCH BUT HAHAHA THAT'S ALL I HAVE. THEIR WEBSITE GOT MORE JUSTIFIED PICTURE KKKKKK.

Okay this pizza is amazing cos got TRUFFLE OIL!!! The truffle oil is not like stingy drips okay.. is a good proper thin layer / fair amount across the entire pizza. Wah I tell you.. I love truffle oil.

French fries + Truffle oil is da bestest... *thinks Helipad*

But honestly, first piece was gawesome but it does get abit sian as you go on. The BOOMZ (oh what an outdated word zzz) effect will not stay on every pieces but the truffle oil.. (yada yada..)

Secondi: Merluzzo
(Pan-fried Cod Fish with mashed Potatoes and Balsamic reduction)

Nothing interesting about this fish. It's priced at S$27 (before 1-for-1 discount) and I can only taste a pan-fried Codfish with a rather bland serving mashed potato. Below my expectation somehow.

On a side note, I ate a lot of frozen cod fish during my stay in UK because I don't fancy cooked salmon so frozen cod is the most readily available fish (don't even think canned tuna and sardines okay! different categories.) and it's so cheap! Hahahahaha. This piece of cod I get is smaller than my fist. Which would cost me about S$1 to cook in UK? Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Dolci e Formaggi: Pannacotta (No cheese)
(Egg-less Vanilla Custard Cream served with fresh Berry Coulis)

I was aiming for this only!! Hahahaha I'm so glad Sir didn't really like it / too full to eat anymore and I had about 3/4 to myself. ZOMG you have no idea how happy I was. This thing is amazing. I'm just gonna start eating this thing and try to locate the best pannacotta in town (to my liking :P)

$$$ Damage: I don't know.

Because Sir paid. He insisted on paying and shot this: "I just received my bonus last week.."
Okay win liao, then you shall pay. HAHAHAHA.

But I reckon it should be around S$50 after the 1-for-1 promotion and service charge and GST.
Oh ya I forgot that he had an espresso. Okay, I think they have 20% discount for beverages.

Verdict: I AM SO GONNA GO BACK AGAIN!!
